Knurd Hamsun adalah duo Eka Nurradhi dan Mirza Pahlevi W. dari Bandung. Mereka memainkan lo-fi post-punk dengan estetika synth punk a’la Blank Dogs, Little Girls hingga Led Er Est. Knurd Hamsun terbentuk karena Eka dan Mirza merasa memiliki banyak kesamaan dalam selera musik sampai akhirnya memutuskan untuk membuat musik bersama.
Awalnya Knurd Hamsun memainkan musik lo-fi surf pop dengan beat-beat chillhop/trap, tapi entah kenapa bisa berubah menjadi memainkan musik post-punk seperti sekarang. Knurd Hamsun sendiri ingin membuat sesuatu yang setidaknya bisa membuat mereka yang mendengarkan menangguk-anggukan kepalanya.
Untuk urusan lirik, mereka berkata bahwa lirik-lirik di EP ini terinspirasi dari serial TV favorit mereka, Game of Thrones, seperti yang terlihat pada track Baelish yang mengacu pada Lord Petyr Baelish.
Knurd Hamsun mengaku tidak berkspektasi banyak tentang pendapat pendengar terhadap musik mereka. Mereka hanya ingin membuat musik sebagai output dari apa yang mereka lihat, dengar dan rasakan kedalam musik. Lagu-lagu mereka dianggap sebagai anak-anak rohani yang setelah keluar dari orang tuanya, mereka punya sejarahnya masing-masing. Urusan suka atau tidak suka, enak atau tidak enak, itu seutuhnya urusan masing-masing pendengar.
Tapi bagi kami, musik Knurd Hamsun adalah sebuah musik yang menarik. Sejauh yang kami tahu, masih belum banyak musik seperti ini di Indonesia. Dan itulah kenapa kami tertarik untuk merilis EP pertama mereka ini.
Sudahlah, sekarang, tonton lagi koleksi serial Game of Thrones punyamu dan dengarkan debut mini album dari Knurd Hamsun ini.
