Home 04:07
Oh dear, bury me whole here. Inside your towering home. I'll shelter you with all that I know. Al-Jabbar. Oh moon, carry me home, Swoon me with your slender arms, & touch me till I'm soothed. Al-Ghaffar. But nobody here's got a home. My body lies cold inside your womb. If bent knees get me home, My body stays sold to the One That Never Dies. Oh dear cold, send my love through snow. Oh I'm a fool & now my water left me too soon. Nobody's home. Oh flames, burning my tongue, Your name crackles on the wick, & I am Your wooden wick, Ya Sabr. Oh whine! Honey, I fear. Would I get to see my Home & all the great rivers I've been told of? But nobody here's got a home. My body lies cold inside your womb. If bent knees get me home, My body stays sold to the One That Never Dies. Oh dear cold, send my love through snow. Oh I'm a fool & now my water left me too soon. Nobody's home. Oh dear, I've crossed my heart. & You love me from the start. Oh dear, I've crossed my hearts. Please love me from the start.

Leave Me 03:41
I'm sorry, love. I've hurt you enough, I know I swear. So just hate me it's okay. I know you hate me, it's okay. & keep on hating me, I'm okay. So cold, oh, your stare, Pierces through my only skin. Where the light enters my body & settles in. I fear to be loved. Now, leave me here. Oh, I know the blood you'd bleed for me. & I know the sights you'd see cause of me. So I'll let you leave me. I'll let you leave me. I'll let you leave me. Just tell me now, if you'd let me down, Like I did when we were young. When we were young, all I sung was your song. Through my throat, your note it rung. But now that I am found, would you return me back to where I belong? Where the moon enters my body through your lungs. I fear to be touched. Now, leave me here. Oh, I know the blood you'd bleed for me. & I know the sights you'd see cause of me. So I'll let you leave me. I'll let you leave me. I'll let you leave me.

I don't know why I'm singing this song anymore. Oh, I swear you said that I don't care. So why am I still here singing this song after all these years you left me here? Oh I swear, you don't say anymore, say anymore, say anymore that you love me even though you said, Even though you said you couldn't do it, oh, anymore. So why am I singing this song when you said you couldn't stand me there. You couldn't even stand me there, yeah. You couldn't stand me, yeah. You couldn't stand me there! You couldn't stand me there! You couldn't stand me there. & maybe I'm right. Oh maybe I'm!... Oh maybe I'm right! Maybe I'm wrong. Well, maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am not right. (Since you left, it feels like...)

My Light 04:10
Since you left, it feels like nothing gone right in my life, & the other day you told me you found a girl, & maybe she's the one. Funny how I thought I was the one, & maybe I'm wrong but I don't know, Maybe I'm right. Maybe I'm right. If you're my silver lining, baby, I'll line your clouds with all my silver strings: every piece of it. If you're my river, then I'm your sea: Every drop of you flows right into me. It goes right into my body. Cause you're my silver strings. Baby, you're my everything. My bones, you bury when I'm gone. But I'll carry yours, I'll carry yours inside. My heart will forever, forever be your guide. Your heart will forever, forever be my light. You're all poured down like an angel's frown. I'd be the sweetest smile that you'd always see: so marvelous indeed. You'd catch me now & trap me sweet. Every dream of you floats through my teeth but I'd catch it so sweetly. Cause you're my silver strings. Baby, you're my everything. My bones, you bury when I'm gone. But I'll carry yours, I'll carry yours inside. My heart will forever, forever be your guide. & baby, I'll forever, forever be your light. & baby, I'll forever, forever be your guide.

Johnny, put me back to sleep, please. Johnny, put me back to sleep, please. Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. I was once a sleeping ocean and in a dream became jealous of a pond. & if you love me, dear, say you love me, but I can never be your only one. & I heard that you wrote her a letter saying that you've loved her, all these years gone by, But I still hurt and I still cry. So would you even hear me if I said? Johnny, I...! Johnny, I tried! Oh, I... Johnny, I tried. Johnny, I tried! Oh, I... I, Johnny, I tried... Johnny, I tried... Put me back to sleep please, Johnny. Put me back to sleep please, oh Johnny. Put me back to sleep please, oh Johnny Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny.

This Longing 04:12
If time can blind you then love can hide you from Truth. (Don't worry) But if time can love you then I can love you too. (I will love you) If I let you go, will this longing leave me too? (All your life, I've been there for you) If I set you free, will this longing leave me be? (I will love you) If the tides don't carry me, I've got nowhere to go. (Don't worry) But if the waves don't pull me in, I'd peacefully float. (I will love you) So if I let you go, will this longing leave me too? (All your life, I've been there for you) & if I set you free, will this longing leave me be? (I will love you) I've got you so in love but now I'm gone. Terrified of if I never get to see you. I'd be crying over everything I've done. Oh if I don't ever get to see you, might as well be blind. Blind, blind, blind. So drown me if you think that I'd be okay. (Don't worry) Cause I couldn't saved us anyway. (I will love you) So I let you go, hoping this longing would leave me too. (All your life, I've been there for you) & then I set you free, hoping this longing would leave me be. (I will love you)

Creatures 04:42
Feels like I have everything to talk about but nothing to say. If I sit here for a thousand year, would you sit with me? Oh, I can't find enough solutions in the ocean. But I haven't searched yet the lands. Maybe if we talk about it, they can find it in my head. Oh, they told me to stop in dark where the creatures are. & they all stopped to watch as I fall apart. I can't stand here to watch, I think I should jump off, I should fall. I can't stand here to watch, I think I should jump off, I should fall. Black walls lay with me but my back's against the floor. & I can't take it, I can't do this anymore. I can't find enough solutions in the ocean. Oh, they told me to stop in dark where the creatures are. & they all stopped to watch as I fall apart. I can't stand here to watch, I think I should jump off, I should fall. I can't stand here to watch, I think I should jump off, I should fall.

My Beloved 01:31

I've missed the way you loved me, & how my lips they used to sing, Sing out their happy thoughts away. Oh it’s been seven years since, I loved a soul like yours so deep, Too deep for me to swim & so I just sink. But they say, don’t go But they say, don’t go Don’t you go away. & all these Palestinian winters, they don’t get any colder, Colder as they go, colder as they go. & by these Palestinian rivers, oh, my body doesn't show the bruises, As I grow. As I grow old. But they say, don’t go. But they say, don’t go. Don’t you go away. This is all I ever see, How the sun climbs into you, Your eyes like curtains; safe but see-through. Through those satin curtain eyes, I settle down like specks of dust, You brush me off & then I come alive. But they say, don’t go. & they begged, don’t go. Don’t you go away. & all these Palestinian winters, they don’t get any colder, Colder as they go, colder as they go. & by these Palestinian rivers, oh, my body doesn't show the bruises, As I grow. As I grow old. & they begged, don’t go & they begged, don’t go & they begged, don’t go Down the river, don't go.

Seventeen 01:10
Oh I had a dream that you were mine & we were seventeen. & you were mine & I was warmer than sun. & we were seventeen. & you were mine & I was in a dream. & you were mine & we were seventeen. & you were mine & we were in dream. & you were mine & I was seventeen.

about

[BAR004]

My Beloved is an album from The Delightful Children, an alias from Irina R., a Malaysian folk-singer based in Victoria, Canada.

'My Beloved' bring us Irina's squeaky voice and the perfection on her guitar work. It's warm and the harmonies were layered lucidly. Listening to this record somehow make me feel closer to her music because i always feel that she sing from somewhere deep inside of her, then she put a little bit of love to every words she sing. And we can feel the bedroom atmosphere all over the songs. I love the overall mood of this album: full of love, joy and it'll make you smile when you listen to this album.

You'll love this if you're a fan of Joanna Newsom, Jessica Pratt, Angel Olsen, etc.
